Lending us your voice

Last updated 27 September 2026

The Community Pack is made from recordings of people who use autochoir. Everyone who sends us a real attempt gets a copy of autochoir2, whether or not their voice goes in the pack. This is the whole arrangement. If you send us a recording, you are agreeing to it, so read it first and ask about anything that is not clear.

Who can send one

  • You are at least eighteen.
  • It is your own voice, singing, recorded by you or for you.
  • Nobody else is on the recording, and there is no backing track under it. If you sang somebody else’s song, that is fine: we train on how you sing, and the recording itself is never published.
  • You have the right to let us use it — nobody else has a claim on the recording.

What to send

One recording, .wav or .mp3, emailed to hi@offwhite.studio, attached or as a link: about twenty minutes, on your own, in a quiet room, with no reverb and nothing else playing. A phone is fine and a microphone is better. With it, the name you want your voice to have and a face from the face generator. We may ask for another name if the one you chose belongs to a real singer or is not something we would print.

What you are giving us

You keep the copyright in your recordings. You give us a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to train a singer from them, and to distribute that singer inside autochoir voice packs, free or sold, on its own or alongside others, now and in future versions of the plugin. The singer carries the name and face you chose, and we may show both on this site.

Non-exclusive means you can do whatever else you like with the same recordings. We only ask that you do not license the same session to someone else for the same purpose (a singer of yours in a competing product) for two years after we tell you your voice is going in the pack.

What you get

A copy of autochoir2, for an earnest attempt at what we ask for above, whether or not we use your voice. A recording that is plainly not one (a few minutes, mostly silence, somebody else singing) gets nothing. We answer within a month of getting the recording, and the answer comes with a code that makes autochoir2 free at the checkout, once. It is yours to use or to give to someone else. The same answer says whether your voice is going in the pack. There is no money and no royalties, however many packs the singer ends up in. If we do not use your voice, we delete the recordings.

What we never do

  • Publish, sell or pass on the recordings themselves. Only the trained singer leaves us.
  • Use the singer to imitate you saying or singing particular things. It sings what a buyer sings into it, and our terms forbid buyers from using any singer to impersonate a real person.
  • Use your recording to train anything other than an autochoir singer.
  • Put your surname, your likeness or anything else about you in the plugin — just the name you chose.

Changing your mind

Until the pack your voice is in comes out, write to us and we delete everything, no questions. After that the singer is in packs people have installed, and we cannot take it back from them. But if you ask, we stop putting it in new packs, take it out of anything still offered within thirty days, and take your name off the site.

Your voice as data

A recording of your voice is personal data and, in some places, treated as biometric data. We keep the recordings only as long as we need them to train and retrain the singer, on our own machines, and we do not share them with anyone. This page is your written consent to that; you can withdraw it as described above. Anything else you want to know about what we hold is in the privacy policy, or ask us at hi@offwhite.studio.
